A Quick Lunch At Honey & Co, Warren Street

Lunch at Honey & Co, Warren Street

I recently met my dad for lunch at Honey & Co on Warren Street. I love this part of north Fitzrovia. It always brings back so many wonderful memories. Fitzrovia is like a little lost village in the middle of London. There are so many little independent shops, restaurants and bars.

Honey & Co has been on my “Must Eat” list since I heard Sarit Packer (one half of Honey & Co) speak at one of the Borough Talks nearly two years ago now. I loved the way she talked about food and what it means to her. By dining at the grown up cafe you are dining in their home and let me tell you, you’ll never want to leave!

It is a teeny tiny little spot, probably enough to seat 20 inside (elbows touching) and about 6 to 8 outside on a sunny day. There are delicious looking cakes piled up on the counter and the cafe is simply decorated with the most beautiful tiled floor. The dream.

The food

As the title of this post suggests, on this occasion it was just a quick lunch. This meant I only had time to try just one of the dishes! And so I had to choose well. And I think I definitely won.

Both my dad and I ordered the Shawarma with slow-cooked lamb shoulder, mint, yogurt and pomegranates atop of a burnt pita. The dish was both comforting and refreshing all at once. The deep smoky flavours of the lamb of course is a perfect partner to the cool yoghurt and mint and slightly bitter cabbage. It was utterly delicious and I enjoyed every single mouthful.

My dad and I reminisced about the old office my parents used to own way-back-when a couple of streets down and the little french sandwich shop around the corner which closed down just six months ago. It’s the perfect lunch spot.

Overall

This time it was a quick lunch pit stop at Honey & Co. Next time I’m coming with hours to spare to work my way through the whole menu whilst sipping on their homemade iced teas as I go. And boy I can’t wait!

I would definitely recommend stopping by for breakfast – last year, I had their sabich, which is egg, aubergine, tahini, and pita (but so much more than that)! Love this place, and really need to try their new one, Honey & Smoke!
