Stay In The Heart Of Seville’s Old Town at Hotel Fernando III

Hotel in the heart of Seville Old Town with a swimming pool on the roof terrace. And it's great value too!

Our taxi from the airport turned off the main road, into a warren of little streets, and as we pass a little square glowing in sunlight and surrounded by restaurants and bars, I think to myself “I’m going to like Seville”. Moments later we were outside Hotel Fernando III, right in the heart of Seville.

Walking into the huge lobby we were greeted by the friendly staff and once checked in we were taken up to our room. Be aware when booking there are different styles of bedroom. There are bedrooms as pictured on the website that have recently been renovated to a more modern style of black and white. We were in the more traditional rooms at the front of the hotel but wait until you hear how amazing our deal was!

Hotel Fernando III is in the heart of the old town of Seville. Surrounded by bars, restaurants and it has a roof terrace and swimming pool!

Our twin room was spacious with a good sized bathroom; perfect for two friends sharing whilst on a weekend getaway. The large twin beds were so comfortable that we both slept like babies every night. Though I’m not sure if that was to do with all the walking or those sangrias we consumed!

The wifi in the bedroom was super speedy and even worked just as well on the roof terrace. The shower was hot and powerful and there were plenty of hangers in the wardrobe for two girls and their clothes.

But what is the real reason we booked Hotel Fernando III?

There are two: it’s location and the swimming pool on the roof terrace.

We had been watching the weather closely in Seville before our trip. Usually I do this to enjoy seeing the sun symbol over my destination. There is something so satisfying knowing that when you go on holiday you’re leaving the bad weather behind. However, this time it was a little different. I was checking the weather daily in the week before we left for Seville because I was truly worried how I was going to manage with 40˚ heat!!

Hotel Fernando III is in the heart of the old town of Seville. It has an amazing rooftop pool!

Luckily by the time we arrived in Seville the temperature was in the 30s. Much more manageable. But, I am so glad we agreed on booking a hotel with a pool. If you visit Seville between the end of Spring and beginning of Autumn its likely to be very hot. So in my opinion a pool is a bit of a necessity.

Also, it’s just so damn nice to have a little siesta up on the roof in the afternoon, in between reading your book and dips in the icy pool. The roof terrace at Hotel Fernando III is huge. It’s split into two levels – one by the bar (service is slow, but the cocktails are worth it) where there is lots of comfy seating and the other level surrounds the pool.

A great value hotel in the centre of Seville Old Town. This 4 star hotel is a great value option with roof terrace and swimming pool.

By 2pm usually all the sun loungers are taken. But don’t let that put you off, just take a dip in the pool and soon enough someone will leave.

Want to know how much we paid for our twin room in July? Just under £90 each for 3 nights. That’s less than £30 a night per person! I think this is such amazing value for the hotels location and rooftop pool. For me it makes it a true gem.

Hotel Fernando III is not going to win any awards for the most luxurious hotel in Seville (there is Hotel Alfonso XIII for that!), but it is a great 4 star hotel in the heart of the old town with a wonderful roof top pool. Our room was perfect for what we wanted as we knew we wouldn’t be spending too much time in there – only to sleep, shower and to siesta! Because of all the space on the roof top we could spend our afternoons relaxing there.

If you are looking for a great value hotel in the heart of Seville where you’re a short walk from the top things to do, then you should book Hotel Fernando III!

Have you been to Seville? Would you book a hotel with a pool too?
