Boneyard, Shoreditch

Review of Boneyard, Shoreditch
Happy Thanksgiving y’all! I have for you today an alternative Thanksgiving menu from the rather cool Boneyard, Shoreditch. Located in an old petrol station Boneyard makes up part of Pump, an outdoor food market. But rest assured, Boneyard has a heated terrace and tables indoors so you can sit merrily eating and drinking the hours away!

I was very kindly invited to come in and try what Boneyard has to offer and I can happily say I was not disappointed. We arrived on a rather cold evening and after starving ourselves during the day in preparation we were eager to see the menu! Jack the rather lovely Manager talked us through it.

Although quite quiet on a Wednesday night we loved the vibe here – very laid back with the food served ticketed style and a wicked playlist (think soul and blues). There is a wall of beers to choose from and you can get prosecco by the bottle. There are also spiked slushies for those brave enough in this cold weather!

The Food

So I suppose I’m not really offering an alternative Thanksgiving menu but rather a Thanksgiving Feast Burger. Complete with a turkey breast patty and secret stuffing, cranberry mayo, a sweet potato hash and honey roasted ham – it’s thanksgiving in a brioche bun. Seeing as it’s a special for one week only we had to order it – I mean just look at it!

I think this was my favourite of the night, the turkey and stuffing were so flavoursome and loved the potato hash, but it was the cranberry mayo that stole my heart. I was unsure when I saw it written down as a topping but it works so well.

We managed to work our way through a lot of the rest of the menu too! This is when taking a boy (my husband) is beneficial because they can finish off all the food you can’t eat because your eyes were too big for your belly. Naughty Vicky.

We had to try the the chicken bones and pork bones otherwise what is the point of going to Boneyard!? The 24hr Hickory Smoked St Louis Ribs are massive and very good. The meat just fell off the bone – it was juicy and the sauce deliciously tangy. We were slightly less impressed with the chicken pieces. They had been a bit over-cooked so that the batter was a little burnt in places which was a shame because the bits that weren’t were super tasty (love buttermilk batter!). But the chicken inside was lovely and smoky.

Next up the chilli chips – a basket full of lattice style crisps topped with smoked brisket chilli, cheese and sour cream. It had a great heat that grew the more you ate, as my husband put it – a slow burner.

Now, I don’t normally feel the need to comment on a side salad, but this one is banging and must be ordered! Little gem leaves and avo in a mustard dressing. Simple but effective. Also makes you feel a little better about all the meat you’ve just consumed… maybe.

If you can get down there before Sunday then please, please order the Thanksgiving burger! You can thank me later.

I’m definitely going to be heading back to Boneyard, Shoredtich. They do naughty american food very well. I’m going back for the ribs and if the Thanksgiving Burger was anything to go by the bone marrow burger will be pretty epic too.

*I was kindly invited to try the food at Boneyard and my meal was complimentary but all views remain my own.

The food looks amazing – that Thanksgiving burger looks incredible. I’m also intrigued by the fact that it’s located in an old petrol station, I bet it looks so cool there!
