Set Lunch Menu At Bourne And Hollingsworth, London

I recently went to beautiful Bourne and Hollingsworth buildings near Farringdon for a little photoshoot with the lovely Katy. This is for a very exciting new business venture I’ve just launched. After we got some wonderful shots (that Katy is super talented!) we were hungry and decided to try the set lunch menu as it looked delicious and great value.

I think set menus can be such an affordable way to try restaurants, especially ones you wouldn’t normally treat yourself to. So as well as my continual search for the best brunch in London, I’ve started my search for the best set lunch menus in London. And of course, I shall take you along on all my lunch trips!

Now, you may remember I wasn’t that impressed with the bottomless brunch at Bourne and Hollingsworth so I was interested to see what their lunch menu would be like.

Bourne And Hollingsworth Set Lunch Menu

The set lunch menu at Bourne and Hollingsworth is great value. Two courses cost £15 or you can dine on three courses for £18. The menu has three choices for each course and the dishes are interesting, seasonal and good portions. The sign of a good set lunch menu!

To start we had the feta and tomato salad with avocado dressing. I mean I’m a sucker for tomato and feta and will usually order it if its on the menu, but I’d not seen it with an avocado dressing. To be honest, I thought it might be a little thick and mushy. But it was so delicious! It was tangy with a slight spice and complemented the rest of the salad so well. And as you see, it was a great sized portion. I hate it when you order a salad as a starter and its tiny!

The set lunch menu has one fish, one meat and one vegetarian option for mains. Although I could have happily eaten any of the dishes on the menu (chicken schnitzel with celeriac coleslaw and caper butter or a cauliflower and potato curry were the other choices) I decided to order the pan fried salmon as it was served with a smoked bacon and dill new potato salad.

Just look at the size of that salmon fillet! Again, I was really happy to see a sizeable portion served. I find with other set menus in London that sometimes they do scrimp on the portion size, or it’s just crap food. But this was full of delicate flavours that complemented each other. The crispy skin was a dream and now I only want to eat bacon and dill potato salad!

We skipped dessert, though a menu with Eton mess or chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream sundae will always win my heart!

Now lets not forget how beautiful the interiors of Bourne and Hollingsworth are. They really are swoon worthy. I wish I had as much greenery in my London home, and the prints on the upholstery are what my interior dreams are made of.

And this time, I was really impressed with the food too. The dishes on the set lunch menu didn’t feel like an afterthought, which in my experience is very common. The flavours were interesting and the dishes beautifully presented. And I think £15 for two courses is great value for the food they are serving. And obviously eating in that setting is always a pleasure.
