Gin Joint, Barbican

Gin Joint, Barbican
I recently headed to the Gin Joint after seeing an excellent exhibition at the Barbican. It was a birthday treat from my brother and cocktails were also on the menu! We arrived at about 8pm on a Thursday and the bar was packed but we managed to grab the last table by the window, bonus. The restaurant area was pretty empty but we preferred the buzz of the bar. Also, we knew we weren’t going to be eating a full meal. Which I’m very glad we didn’t. The food was quite expensive and pretty meh. I went for a halloumi salad which had charred green beans and bland leaves. I think the burger was fine, nothing special.

The cocktails on the other hand are both beautiful and delicious! There is a great selection on offer and they are made to perfection. There’s also a great selections of gins if you prefer the gin and tonic route. Two cocktails of note from the evening were the Bermondsey Orchard (Gin, rhubarb liqueur, apple and sage puree and apple juice) and Orange is the New Black (Gin, grand marnier, mure and blackcurrant jam).

I’d come here again for the cocktails and it’s a great place to meet pre/post exhibition or performance.
