Pizza and cocktails at Heist Bank, Paddington

Heist Bank, Paddington
Pizza and cocktails? That’s a yes from me! Heist Bank is a new all-day restaurant and bar located just off the canal in Paddington. Oh and they sell fresh flowers, who doesn’t love flowers!?

My dream is to one day own a local brasserie-style spot that sells flowers. Because I love flowers. They make me happy and I think other people like them too. How many times have you seen an Instagram of the flowers outside Libtery? That’s how mine will look. I’ve decided.

So you can imagine how excited I was to go check out Heist Bank. Pizza, cocktails AND flowers. The dream basically.

The food

It’s not all about the pizzas at Heist Bank, there is a great varied menu of Mediterranean inspired dishes including cured meats, grilled squid and slow cooked courgettes.

On the night we only managed to grab a slice of the three mushroom with tarragon pizza as they where swiped well before they got to us, but that slice was ever so tasty! The bianco base was topped with what tasted like pickled mushrooms which I loved. A great alternative to a tomato base.

Shipped straight from Italy, Heist Bank’s wood burning oven turns out a selection of delicious pizzas featuring local cheeses, cured meats and seasonal toppings. Although we didn’t get to try much of the pizza offering (sadly!) they looked incredible when they came out on large wooden boards.

We did however get to try some of the delicious small plates on offer. The watermelon with labneh and toasted seeds was refreshing and light. It would be the perfect bite to eat in this heatwave we’re experiencing in London at the moment!

The olive and cheese doughnuts were oh so naughty with their molten centres. The salty olives were a great addition to the rich cheese filling. These went down a treat alongside our cocktails.

If you like a Dark and Stormy cocktail then you must try their version here. With added ginger syrup to the ginger beer and rum combo this is a great fiery long drink. I tried a few for research purposes and they were made spot on every time!

I’m saving my favourite tasty treat of the night to last. I want to leave this in your mind so that when you go to Heist Bank you will not forget to order the n’duja croquettes with wild garlic mayo. I repeat, do not forget to order the croquettes!

The Delicious Sour made with Somerset Cider brandy, peach liqueur, lemon and egg white was both beautiful and a lovely sweet cocktail. If cocktails aren’t your thing, there are 8 different G&Ts on offer too.

To finish things off there is a Whippy ice cream machine! On the night one was a malted cornflake offering covered in caramel sauce which was uneblievably moreish and the other a refreshing Pimms number.

What makes Heist Bank different?

Let’s get back to the flowers! Heist Bank is filled with seasonal flowers, all available buy from the in-house florist Botanique (they launched their first flower shop on Exmouth Market at the end of last year). There is a great selection so go on, buy a bunch for a loved one on your way home!

Not only this but you can borrow the bikes that are stationed outside and got out to explore the canal and local area.

There is also a foosball table and a pool table if you fancy a little game. Oh and the private party room in the basement comes with karaoke, old Nintendos and self-service beer kegs!

I challenge you not to find at least one thing you like about Heist Bank. There are lots of different things to keep you happy!

The verdict

Heist Bank is from the same people as Coin Laundry on Exmouth Market so I knew it was going to be a great place. The relaxed environment makes it a great location to catch up with friends and it is a great spot for the summer too with lots of outside seating. Come on a sunny day and take advantage of the bikes and go and explore Paddington Basin!

Have you explored Paddington Basin? Do you have any other favourite spots around there?

This place looks amazing, I love the fact that they have bikes to borrow and those donuts sounds ridiculously decedent.
