Hide and Seed, Putney

Review of Hide and Seed Zomato
Earlier this month, I was very kindly invited to try the food at Hide and Seed by the lovely people at Zomato. If you don’t know Zomato you should! It’s a wicked website and app that helps you discover more places to eat and drink in cities all over the world. I use a lot in London. The app really is slick – download it now!

My husband and I don’t really know Putney that well so we were happy to explore a new area. We booked a table for Saturday night so that we could head to a bar first and check out Putney a bit more. We had margaritas at the newly opened El Patron in their downstairs bar. The food smelt amazing so it made us very hungry for our dinner!

We arrived to an empty restaurant and bar. It really was very quiet. We were shown to our table in the small restarant. There are about 7 tables, in a lovely room. The giant doors are immense! Once looking at the menu we were happy. There is a selection of 5 small plates to start. We ordered the chorizo bites and seafood risotto to share. The Chorizo bites were delicious! I love goats cheese with chorizo and the quince ‘gel’ worked really well. The risotto was okay. We both felt it lacked a little something in flavour.

We were both stuck between the rump steak and pork ribs next so I went for the pork and D the steak. I won this round. They had de-boned the bbq ribs and served it with potato cream and polenta cake. I really fancied some comfort food and it really hit the spot! Now, it does say on the menu carved rump steak. We thought this meant it would come out like a flat iron sliced. But it came chopped up so small, almost like a stroganoff! Not expected. Also, the mushroom, beetroot, grape and port combo didn’t quite work. But I was happily eating my choice! Haha.

We were pretty full but there’s always room for dessert. D just went for ice cream – they offer a great range of ice creams and sorbets with some unusual flavours. I went for the eaton mess ‘textures’. It was like a deconstructed eaton mess which was hard to eat off a slate but very good.

Apart from the steak mishap, the food here is good and the staff nice. It’s just a shame is not a bit busier. I think because the restaurant is in a hotel and it’s slightly off the main high street people haven’t yet discovered this place.

We had a lovely evening and a big thank you to Zomato for the voucher. As always, all opinions are my own.

I love Putney. It’s got such a great food vibe going on at the moment!

The chorizo bites sound delicious, and I love me some boneless ribs, so will definitely put this on my list for future reference 😀 xx

Putney has some great restaurants, this sounds nice good that they de-boned the ribs this means you get all the enjoyment without the fuss and mess Lucy x
