Postcards from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

The Valle de la Luna, just by Postcards from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

After spending a week in Peru and making a life-long dream come true by climbing to the top of Machu Picchu, we spent a long day travelling to San Pedro de Atacama in the northern part of Chile.

Why did we decide to come here on our South American adventure? Because all you need to do is google The Atacama Desert and look at all the stunning photographs, to realise this place is like no where else on this planet. And San Pedro de Atacama sits right in the middle of it all making it the best place to base yourself.

Unfortunately because we were travelling during their winter, there was some snow (!) mean a couple of our tours got cancelled. This was such a shame because we only had 3 days here we couldn’t rebook. And we knew how amazing it was all meant to be. You can see how one day it was glorious and the next it was next level freezing!

However, what we did see was utterly incredible! The absolute highlight being the Valle de la luna. It’s such a beautiful place your eyes can’t take it all in. It’s a mesmerising place.

I’ll be compiling all my tips on how to spend your time in San Pedro de Atacama, which tours you should book and of course where to eat!
