The Joint, Brixton Village Market

Review of The Joint, Brixton Village Market
Last week the man and I went to see Parov Stelar at Brixton Academy. It was probably one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to – the band were just amazing! Danced the whole night to great sax and trumpets. Also, Brixton is a great venue for a little person like me, as it’s sloped you can always see no matter where you stand. Always a bonus. We headed over straight from work and wandered to Brixton Village Market for some food. As we were walking around we heard tunes booming from a small place so we had to take a look. It smelt delicious and as we saw other peoples food we had to eat there.

The Joint was originally a pop-up, but Warren and Daniel now have permanent spots in Brixton Village Market and Marylebone. We started with the hot wings which come out tied up in a paper bag. These were bloody amazing! So juicy and the sauce had just the right amount of tang and nice n spicey, of course. Then we went for the Asian burger (slow cooked pulled pork with spring onion, ginger and chilli) and the beef brisket burger (with salsa and chilli jam in a potato bun). These were massive. We did half and half and I couldn’t pick a favourite out of them. Both were just so good. So much flavour packed into them. They are also the messiest things you will ever eat!

Also, another great thing about this place is it’s BYOB. So it really can be a cheap meal out too – we grabbed a couple of bottles of beer from a shop close by. When we were done they bring you out a wet wipe which is much needed. The staff are wicked here too. It was a great start to our night – definitely worth a visit.
